Giant V-Shaped Wheel Rakes HAY & FORAGE HARVESTING Rakes (44) 22-1-28 A newly designed giant V-shaped wheel rake is getting rave reviews from "down under" in Australia. The Taege V-rakes are built in sizes up to 22 wheels across, with a couple extras up the middle to shape the large windrows. What makes them different is that they steer from the rear, thanks to a pair of hydraulic-controlled rear steering wheels. Andrew McRae, who operates a 1,500 acre farm near West Wyalong in New South Wales, recently told Power Farming Magazine that he likes the way the rear steer feature allows the big rake to work well in corners. Conventional rakes, he noted, often "ball" hay on corners, making it difficult to bale. McRae used a 25-ft. wide 14-wheel rake to put up over 600 tons of hay.
