Mini Tree Saw Fits On ATV's
No hydraulics. No moving parts. That’s why customers appreciate The Perfect Tree Saw, says Bill Dove, owner of Hav-Roc, LLP, the company his father Ralph Dove, started (first featured in FARM SHOW’S Vol. 3, Issue 5).
The latest “mini” model has opened up a new market of customers who want to use ATV’s to clear land
“There are lots of 4-wheelers out there,” Dove says. “And that’s all you need for CRP ground.”
Customers can quickly cut trees from the seat of their ATV. The V-shaped design has teeth that work like a big handsaw. By taking a 3-in. cut on one side, then another cut on the other side, the ATV-sized model can take down trees up to 6 in. in dia.
“It’s not an impact machine. You don’t have to use speed with this,” Dove says. “And it cuts at ground level, so there’s no stump.”
The AR400 teeth can be sharpened with a grinder in about 45 min. Dove notes he has 250 hrs. on an HR-Mini Saw and it hasn’t needed sharpening yet. (Models for skidsteers, tractors and dozers are larger and have hardened steel teeth and surfaces that last several hundred hours before needing to be rebuilt.)
After field-testing since 2009, the model for ATV’s was introduced at the beginning of this year.
“One thing I’m finding out is that people with deer hunting leases are using it to keep shooting lanes open. And private landowners can easily maintain property,” he says.
While many customers use The Perfect Tree Saw to cut invasive brush such as cedar, Dove says that it also cuts hardwoods.
Cost for the HR-Mini Saw, including mounting attachments, is $1,395. Approximate shipping cost is $250.
