Hinge Makes Mounting Gates Easy FENCING Gates “I never liked hanging gates and it was always hard to get them to hang right and swing right once hung ” says Steven Haller a third-generation farmer and founder of 5H Manufacturing “With our gate mounts you don’t have to worry about doing it right Just suspend the gate with a loader or backhoe and adjust the brackets on the gate post until it’s right Once everything is lined up snug the brackets up and let the gate hang ” The Pro-Mount ST is designed for use with 2 3/8-in to 3-in steel posts The Pro-Mount XL can be installed on any 4 to 8-in steel or wood post Both mounts can be adapted for use with larger posts The only tool needed is a wrench The main brackets for both designs include receiver tubes for 1-in threaded mounting bolts standard on most gates The brackets can be adapted to 3/4-in bolts with the addition of heavy washers Brackets can be mounted to the bolts for positioning on the gate post However Haller suggests loosely attaching them to the posts until the gate is in position The ST bracket consists of two main brackets and two secondary brackets that connect to the main bracket with bolts The combination wraps around the post Tightening the bolts secures the bracket system in place Using longer bolts adapts the ST to posts up to 3 1/2 in in diameter The XL uses roller chain attached to threaded rod to secure the main brackets Once the bracket and the gate are positioned securing the mount is a matter of wrenching down nuts on the threaded rod Adapting it to a larger size post requires adding additional links to the roller chain straps Haller knew he had something that would appeal to other farmers and ranchers after making and putting his prototype XL to use A neighbor dropped by and looked it over “He said he just spent half a day drilling holes in steel pipe to hang a gate ” recalls Haller “He told me he could have been done in half an hour with this ” Haller is signing up new dealers to cover western Canada before expanding into the U S depending on dealer and customer interest “We can ship to the U S ” says Haller “We still have to work out the technicalities ” The Pro-Mount ST is priced at $79 99 and the Pro-Mount XL is $89 99 CAD Installation instructions and videos are available on the company website “One person can mount a gate with these systems ” says Haller “You can do it other ways but in the amount of time it takes to locate where to drill holes the gate has been hung with ours ” Contact: FARM SHOW Followup 5H Manufacturing Box 149 Trochu Alberta Canada T0M 2C0 ph 866-200-2907; shaller@5Hmfg com; www 5hmfg com
